La tournée Crossing Boarders s’est terminée à Malmö avec une compétition internationale féminine intitulée GET, SET, GO! Des filles de la Grande-Bretagne, des États-Unis, du Danemark, du Canada, du Mexique (allô Renata!) et de plusieurs régions de la Suède se sont déplacées afin de venir y exposer leur talent. La compétition a eu lieu dans le fameux skateparc de Malmö, en parallèle avec le Ultra Bowl II, une coupe du monde de “bowl”. Félicitations à Kevin Kowalski pour avoir remporté la première place!

Crossing Boarders tour ended up in Malmö with an all girls international contest entitled GET, SET, GO! Girls from Great-Britain, USA, Denmark, Canada, Mexico (Hi Renata!!) and from all over Sweden attended the event to show what they’ve got! The contest took place in Malmö’s famous concrete park, the same weekend as the Ultra Bowl II, an international bowl contest. By the way, contratulations to Kevin Kowalski for winning first place!

En ce qui a trait à la compétition de filles, c’est Annie Guglia qui a remporté la première place! Elle s’est mérité un beau chèque et une guitare! Bravo matante!!! Voici les résultats des finales:

Crossing Boarders Tour being over (well, at least for the Canadian part), Sarah Meurle is already leaving Montréal tomorrow after spending a few days at my place along with Caroline Farrell. Today, Éloïse came to pick them up in her brand new Westfalia and drove them to Belvedere, a famous montreal skate spot located on top of Mont-Royal. The view is totally awesome up there and Sarah couldn’t leave the city without at least trying a few tricks. Here are a few pics that she took. She also filmed a couple of things, which inspired a short montage. Thanks for the flicks Sarah, and hope you enjoyed your stay in Montréal!

Dans un ordre d’idée à peu près semblable, chez nous on retrouve l’organisme Recy-Skate, qui roule sa bosse depuis bientôt 3 ans en récupérant des planches à roulettes et en les redistribuant à des jeunes démunis. À ce sujet, je vous invite à regarder le reportage diffusé en Janvier dernier à l’émission La Vie En Vert.

Along the same line of thinking, born almost 3 years ago in Montreal, there is an organization called Recy-Skate that recycles skateboards and donates them to poor kids. Talking about that, I invite you to watch the story that was broadcast in January on La Vie En Vert (Life In Green).

Here’s a short clip of the qualifications for the Asiplanchaba game of S.K.A.T.E. that was held last Saturday at Plaza de Sants in Barcelona. I use this opportunity to wish a Happy Birthday to Elysha Bastien, our favourite S.K.A.T.E. player, who we can see at the beginning of the clip.  Although we weren’t able to elebrate your 25th birthday with you, we don’t forget you Lili!

This year, for Élo’s birthday, we opted for a more unexpected clip.  No need to tell you more, except that the whole thing was shot in less than 3 hours…  ROCK ON LADIES!

Depuis déjà un mois je ne peux plus skater et je devrai attendre encore au moins 3 semaines avant de pouvoir profiter des joie du printemps Je lis, mange, écoute un épisode de… mais, je travaille aussi, avec l’aide de mes consoeurs, sur un énorme projet que les Skirtboarders accompliront bientôt!!!
Montréal me manque tellement !

I can’t skate since already one month and I will have to wait for another, at least, 3 more weeks before I will be able to enjoy the spring happiness I read, I eat, I watch some tv program of… but, I also work hard, with my sisters, on a huge project for the Skirtboarders!!!
I miss Montréal so much!

L’hiver passe, les montagnes de neige commencent à fondre. Selon les ouï-dire, Skåne n’est pas supposé être enneigé comme le Québec. Ben oui, mais pourtant j’suis pas dépaysé pour deux cennes!!?!?! Ça aurait l’air que depuis 25 ans, ils n’ont pas reçu autant de neige, y fallait bien que je me sauve de l’hiver pour qu’il me suive Au moins au Québec quand c’est l’hiver, on peut aller faire du snow dans une montagne qui a du potentiel à environ 45 minutes de Montréal, mais ici c’est plat, pas de montagne. Bref, glissade, bonhomme de neige et SKATE

Snow banks are melting, meaning winter’s almost over. From what I had heard before I moved here, Skåne is not supposed to be as white as Quebec during the cold season. Nevertheless, I really felt like home this winter. Skåne got more snow than in the past 25 years…and it obviously had to happen while I was here, hoping to get rid of Quebec’s bone cracking cold!

At least, in Quebec, you can go snowboarding. Here, land is totally flat…So, we slide, make snowmen and SKATE!

Une journée qu’on étaient en feu, on est allés glisser à Monté Composté, la bute de déchet recouverte de gazon.

After another hard day at work, I didn’t feel like shoveling…so I made this snowman instead haha!

J’ai commencé l’année en beauté en allant visiter Anneli dans une petite ville entre Jonköping et Linköping. Il a fait tellement beau, pas trop chaud, mais le ciel était bleu et quand je suis arrivée, y avait des vagues dans le lac (Vattern), c’était tellement un bon début d’année. SKATE!! C’était vraiment trop génial!!

Le 6 janvier, j’étais déjà encore sur la route, KARLSTAD!!! (plaisant un horaire de job qui rotationne, avec 2 fins de semaines par mois de congé, j’savais pas que ça pouvait être possible dans la restauration!!) Une tite ville assez trou merci (mais tellement loin de ressembler à un trou!), surtout quand le train pète en plein milieu et que tu rates la connexion à Göteborg, j’me demandais ben si j’allais y arriver un jour! Bref, après 2h30 de gossage, SJ on finit par débloqué un bus pour nous amener à la destination:) Vers 1h je suis arrivé à Karlstad ou m’attendait les autres filles!! C’était tellement malade, vraiment beau week-end!!! SKATE, super bon resto indien et pool.

Début février, Andrea organisait déjà une autre sortie!! Öresund Runt!! Une journée ensoleillé, un billet trop cheap avec comme pit-stops SKATE à Helsingborg, une ville que j’aime trop, traversier vers le Danemark, Helsingor, et finalement SKATE à Copenhagen. Nous sommes tellement passés à côté du château de Kronborg, connue internationalement pour l’histoire de Hamlet, une des plus célèbres tragédies de William Shakespeare. Je devrais d’ailleurs y retourner, tant qu’à avoir un mois de congé
Le tout pour terminer notre journée en beauté: bière, bouffe chinoise et soirée de filles, trop cool.

Right after New Year, I visited Anneli in a small town between Jonköping and Linköping. The weather was amazing: it was a little bit cold, but the sky was blue and there were nice waves on Vattern Lake…and we went skating!! It was wonderful!

January 6, I was on my way to Karlstad! My job allows me to take 2 weekends off per month, so I take advantage of it! I didn’t know this was even possible in my field of work! Anyways, Karlstad is a pleasant city in the middle of nowhere. On my way there, the train broke and I missed my connexion in Göteborg. In the end, I was wondering if I would ever make my way to Karlstad! I finally got on a bus that led us to destination. We spent an incredible weekend full of skating, good Indian meals and pools!

Andrea had organised another trip – Öresund Runt! – for beginning of February!! It was sunny…and the train ticket was cheap. We stopped in Helsingborg to skate, took a ferry to Denmark and skated again in Copenhagen. We passed by the Kronborg castle, which is well known around the world because of Hamlet, one of the most popular tragedies written by William Shakespeare. I really want to go back and visit. We finally ended the day with beer, Chinese food, so perfect for a girls’ night!

Entre temps, y avait vraiment pas de quoi s’emmerder à Skåne, entre les ladies nights au Bryggeriet les lundis, les dimanches après-midis girls sessions à Östra-torn, le parc à côté de chez nous et Le Grand Hotel avec mes 50 heures par semaine, j’avais du pain sa planche!!! Dire que j’ai trouvé du temps pour écouter les olympiques en m’faisant des fondues au chocolat Vive l’efficacité!!

In Lund, between each of my small trips, I really had good times too! With Bryggeriet’s ladies nights on Mondays, Östra-torn’s girls’ sessions on Sunday afternoons and my 50 hours of work per week at Le Grand Hotel, my schedule was pretty packed! I can’t belienve I even found time to watch the Olympics while eating a chocolate fondue! One word: Efficiency!!!

La semaine dernière, je partais pour Valdemarsvik, à 1h au nord de Norrköping, pour encore aller rejoindre Anneli. Avec comme projet, SKATER mais aussi de transformer des vieux skates brisés en quelque chose Anneli, étudiante en menuiserie, s’est fait un plaisir de me faire quelques leçons dans un beau mix de français, anglais et suédois:) Pas trop pour moi s’te métier là, j’vous comparerais ça à la pâtisserie, finesse et précision…

Last week, I went to Valdemarsvik, one hour north of Norrköping, to meet Anneli. We obviously planned to skate a bit, but the main reason of my visit was to transform old broken boards into something useful! Anneli is studying carpentry, so she taught me the basis of her work in a beautiful mix of French, English and Swedish! I have to admit I don’t have a natural talent for this kind of labor. Nevertheless, I found some similarities with bakery…finesse and precision!

Avec mon mois de réhabilitation forcé, j’devrais être capable de relaxer et prendre des forces pour encore être capable de reprendre la route bientôt. Pour l’instant, projets perso et lecture. Like most of you might know, I have a month of rehabilitation in front of me. I will relax and take it easy for a bit, and then hopefully be on the road again soon! For now, personal projects and reading.
