C’est en feuilletant un livre auquel je n’avait pas touché depuis 10 ans que je suis tombée sur une page de magazine que j’avais pris bien soin de découper…  Flash back!

While browsing through the pages of a book I haven’t touched for years, I found this page I cut out of a skate mag…  Flash back!

À cette époque (wow, je commence à sonner comme une p’tite vieille), il n’y avait pas de youtube ni de facebook.  En fait, on était bien loin de l’accès facile à internet!  Il était donc tout à fait normal pour une fille de 16 ans qui aime le skate de découper une page de magazine et de la garder précieusement au cas où on ne reverrait jamais d’autre fille apparaitre dans un média de skate.  Si je me fie à mon instinct, la page en question doit dater de 1997 ou 1998 mais je n’ai absolument aucune idée de quel magazine elle provient.
Est-ce que quelqu’un sait?
Elissa Steamer a été une grande inspiration pour plusieurs filles de ma génération. Elle a ouvert bien des portes à celles qui allaient suivre ses traces et elle a (sans vraiment le vouloir) grandement contribué au développement de la scène féminine internationale. Mieux encore: elle skate toujours! Et ce malgré le fait que plusieurs gars de sa génération aient renoncé au skateboard il y a déjà plusieurs années…

Referring to my memories, the page in question must be from 1997 or 1998 but I have no idea which magazine it comes from.
Does somebody know?
Elissa Steamer was a great inspiration for many girls of my generation.  She opened many doors for those who were going to follow her foot steps and she (without really wanting it) truly contributed to the development of an international female skateboarding scene.  Even better: she still skates! And she does despite the fact that several years ago, many guys of her generation gave up on skateboarding…
