La vita è bella in the Poulin-Filion family! Rébecca, her boyfriend Fred and her daughter Maëlle have been living in Sardinia (Italy) for a few months now. On June 21th, she participated to a local contest to celebrate the international GSD. She was the only female skateboarder entering the competition! I don’t know if she did the finals but just by seing the pictures, we can tell she had tons of fun! After all, isn’t it the goal?

J’taime Montréal via B.C.

I’m still Alive! I’m living in Northern B.C. in a small oil city called Fort St John. which is probably further away from Montreal than you can imagine. Much closer to Alaska even. Although I’ll be leaving again in the Fall to go to Costa Rica, or maybe back to Hawaii, and then definetly going back to the Kootenay’s for the Winter. A visit to Montreal in between all this is in order for sometime around September. Plane tickets are ridiculously expensive so keep your eyes out for seat sales for me Julie! I’m not skating as much as I’d like to be. No one to skate with and not a lot time to go… I’m still on a waiting list for shoulder surgery also, but I have some appointments made and should be going under the knife anytime after the Summer. I’ve been told I’ll have full movment of my arm after physiotherapy which is comforting. It gets a little distressing to have you shoulder dislocate when you’re just sleeping. Man, for how much I’ve hurt my body I should have been better at skateboarding. Just kidding, it was always about fun, and spending time with like minded people. Beer always tastes better when it’s ice cold, hot as hell, and you have bruises on your knees.

I went on trip in April with Alex to my hometown, and low and behold they have a skatepark there now. It’s amazingly built and totally accesible for all levels and interests of Skateboarding. Erika you would love their bowl! I’m quite proud to see such a small town get the wheels rolling and come up with a park for their community. Kaslo, doesn’t even have any street lights. Nelson, the neighbouring city, has been trying to get an outdoor park since before I was 13, and has never succeeded due to politics and liabilities and folks plain bitching about skateboarding. You would think they have by now realised that we’re not going anywhere, or at least that we could generate some economics for them, but sadly nothing changes. I’m sure everyone in Montreal can relate to that.

Much Love,

Amy
